Talking Tocco

To the editor: I have spent years and burned up at least one copying machine trying to inform the citizens of Fort Worth about Superintendent Tom Tocco’s rape of our school system. Questioning, informed school board candidates have thrown themselves into the fray of local politics in a feeble attempt to stem the tide of corruption, only to be blown aside by incumbents, their supporters, and the daily newspaper. Every other day in the Star-Telegram more info surfaces on the mismanagement of the most untrustworthy, thieving administration in memory. And the bottom line: The architect of this disaster has walked away with half a million dollars. Fort Worth leadership has been more concerned with covering up, covering butt, and killing the messenger. I understand why any young person with creativity and a distaste for corruption would consider leaving Fort Worth (“Creative Class Struggle,” July 14, 2004).
