Brain Food

To the editor: Again, Becky Haskin is free-wheeling around Fort Worth and completely failing to serve her constituents (“Whitecaps on White Lake,” Sept. 1, 2004). Why is anyone surprised? She’s been doing this for years. Also not surprising is the fact that this project is not her “brainchild,” because we all know that Becky, God love her, doesn’t have the brain power to create such a thought. No doubt it was spoonfed to her by the same person or persons who get her to waste taxpayer money at every available opportunity. Perhaps at the next election enough people will be aware of her habits to vote her out of office.

Cheryl Walker

Fort Worth

To the editor: If Jerome Walker can’t see the stupidity in his statement “Our challenge ... is to provide affordable housing for all incomes,” then he should be dismissed from the employ of our city. “Affordable housing” is only a concern for low-income people. The rest of us can afford something. It may not be what we want, but we can and should pay for it ourselves. The housing department is there to help those who can’t help themselves, not those who won’t help themselves. It is not the place of the city to develop anything for “high-income” people — they have the resources to do it for themselves. If the rich people want something, then they should pay for it — not the taxpayers.
