My Favorite Things

You’ve heard them ’round town — the whiners, the egomaniacs, the haters. “HearSay only writes about West Seventh Street.” “HearSay doesn’t like my favorite band.” “HearSay only writes about West Berry Street.” “How many times do we have to read about John Price, John Price, John Price?”
Flack: It’s part of the job. I accept it. I embrace it. I roll around in it, then stick my tongue down its slimy throat, ‘cause you know why? I’m fucked in the head.
No, seriously, this is all really just a chicken-shit way of saying that what I’m about to say involves West Seventh, West Berry, and, yes, John Price. (FYI: Of all the worth-a-shit bands/performers mentioned in “HearSay” over the past 12 months, Price’s name is, like, near the bottom in number of times referenced. No. 1? Flickerstick, of course. A close second, however, is an artist whose vibe is about as anti-Flickerstick, anti-John Price as possible ... Daniel Katsuk and his A-Hummin’ Acoustical Acupuncture — so put that in your pipe and smoke it!)
On to W. 7th news. Something special is happening Thursday on that portion of asphalt near the Post Office and the bright, shiny 7-Eleven. All HearSay is at liberty to say is, for God’s sake, make sure you’re wearing your drinkin’ shoes. The night will culminate at the Wreck Room with a performance by Honky, Brother Tex, Scott Copeland, and the Giddeons, a lonnnnng-time Fort Worth rock band that hasn’t graced a stage in eons.
Now over to West Berry. The Acoustic Mafia c.d. release party is Sun., at the Aardvark. No, John Price won’t be playing. (Sob!)
