Playing Safe

To the editor: No matter what the article (“Radio Flyers,” Feb. 9, 2005) says, I know Chris Bellomy, one of the duo, to go out of his way to play it safe and oppose any real musical change (see the newsgroup dfw.music). I oppose bands as being dull and 40 years of sameness He’s against me and goes out of his way to block any such new ideas.
I’m a musician — the only one on the planet who plays Box Office Concerts in Dallas (the Inwood Theater) and apparently the only one who thinks 40 years of bands may be enough. He seems to be against anything new.
I want to shake up every aspect of the music world with my music and my 13-year-old Dallas ’zine Musea. He opposes every word I say. I did a KNON radio show in 1985, and it wasn’t safe. He plays it safe.
I think rock ’n’ roll has become everything it started out opposing. I think the only thing bands rebel against now is change. He disagrees. I go out of my way to oppose Infinity and Clear Channel. He doesn’t seem to mind their control.
If your writer thinks this show is the cutting edge, he needs to get out more. Come over to Dallas—it may not be the provincial capital of the world anymore.
