Spoonfed Tribe hasn’t slowed down since a recent split with guitarist/flautist Daniel Katsuk. The sextet is touring the West Coast to packed houses on the heels of great press from performances there over the summer. The winding path from California to Colorado deposits the band in Cowtown this weekend at the Ridglea Theater, for a multi-band mini-festival featuring some of Spoonfed’s fellow travelers, including The Lymbyc Systym, Ellipsis, Sin-C, Dust Radio, and Thinking Room.

Spoonfed has also been busy trying to ready some c.d.’s for release. The first of those may be Weapons of Mass Percussion, a live e.p./DVD from the band’s infamous Dallas show of a few months ago in which the musicians and revelers were accosted by Dallas police. Another is The Legend of Supermonkey, a collection of B-sides. The Tribe is also planning on entering the studio to record new material, to solidify the new Katsuk-free line-up. Expect heavier, jammier, poppier things.

This Ridglea show marks the band’s first in-town performance without Katsuk and also its last local stop before heading back out on the road, to tour Texas and the South, for about a month. — Anthony Mariani
