When last we visited Fort Worth police Lt. Jon Grady, he had been reassigned from patrolling the Stockyards and pushed into no-man’s land — working the jail. The move came after a series of clashes with Stockyards business owners, most notably Neon Moon Saloon owner Darren Rhea, who filed a harassment lawsuit. The city recently settled the case out of court. “They chose to settle out of court, and they wrote a check, but I can’t disclose how much,” Rhea said. “I think they knew ... that moving him was my main interest. I would have been happy with just that. It does lend credibility to your article (“Officer Unfriendly,” July 28, 2004) and my claim that he was stalking me and my business.” Static’s inquiry to the city regarding how much was spent on the settlement has yet to be answered.
