Messed Up, Dressed Down

To the editor: You know, I don’t enjoy reading about folks paying a high price for doing something that I consider to be the right thing or for doing something that is relatively inconsequential, such as Mr. Buswell sending one e-mail over the military system. Still, he really should have considered that he, being a serviceman, has relatively few rights when it comes to speaking his mind, especially in post-9/11 America. Our current situation is largely a result of George W. Bush’s presidency, along with a mainstream media and Congress that have been all too willing to be led by the nose. Being a Libertarian, I had no personal preference in the 2000 elections when Mr. Bush and Mr. Gore were running. Today, however, I can think of no administration in my lifetime (and I’m no spring chicken) that has done more than George W. Bush’s to tarnish the image of the U.S. in the world, as well as to curtail the personal liberties of our own citizens. My sympathies go out to Mr. Buswell for having a mind of his own and for using it, unlike so many others in our country who have been brainwashed by our politicians as well as our media. Steve Hill Springtown
