Not ’Bad, But Not Good

To those of you who think that all strip clubs are the same, listen up: They’re not.
Most are pretty easy to classify — New Orleans Nights is the classy joint, Illusions is No-No’s on a budget, and Fantasy Ranch is somewhere in between.
One of the few cabarets that resisted easy classification was Sinbad’s. Nicknamed “The Oasis of Delight,” the Camp Bowie West locale was cool one weekend, dingy the next. With such schizophrenic character, no wonder the place closed down several months ago.
On hearing that the club had recently been remodeled and re-opened, Last Call decided to swing by.
Sinbad’s is pretty much still a dive but one that’s definitely on the upswing: fresh-looking paint, nicely tiled bathrooms, a cordial greeter, and — best of all — no cover!
The dancers were no better or worse than those at any other decent adult entertainment venue, and the music was your regular rotation of pop rock followed by R&B followed by more pop rock, but the main thing that may keep Last Call coming back was the crowd, mostly a few dozen extras from Deliverance.
What’s cool about that? Well, if you manage to comb your hair and put on some smell-good before entering the joint, you’ll probably be the Dapperest Dan there.
