Diaphanous Gatherings
The show of Todd McDonald’s paintings at Handley-Hicks Gallery is called Diaphanous Gatherings, though one might well ask what exactly is gathering, since his landscapes are bereft of people. These static paintings are unsettling, since they give evidence of human habitation, but the people are always mysteriously out of the frame.
