Fall Art Fest

Temperatures are cooling, and we’ll soon set the clocks back, losing that precious hour of sleep. This weekend we can help usher in fall by celebrating an embarrassment of musical and artistic riches along a six-block stretch of Main Street — for free.

Four outdoor stages will showcase continuous performances by more than 60 national, regional, and local original bands and songwriters, including Sub Oslo, Pablo & the Hemphill 7, Honchie, Evamore, Spoonfed Tribe, Zac Maloy, Pinkston, Bertha Coolidge, the Burden Brothers, John Price, and the Flametrick Subs.

More than 100 decorative and visual artists will have works on display. The World Celebrity Arts Tour will be at 4th and Houston in Sundance Square, exhibiting and offering for sale pieces created by rock legends like David Bowie, Jerry Garcia, and John Lennon, as well as film notables like Sylvester Stallone, Anthony Quinn, Tony Curtis, and Jane Seymour. Expose Yourself to Art will present hands-on workshops and creative explorations. And exuberantly decorated Art Cars will be on view around the site.

The Poetry Platform at 7th and Main will feature poetry readings and slams, coordinated by local champion slam poet Clebo Rainey. The Jimi Hendrix Red House Tour, located in Sundance Square, will allow fans to experience the life, music, and legacy of Jimi Hendrix. Of course, food and drink will also be available — Ken Shimamoto

The 4th Annual Fort Worth Fall Music Festival & Art Fair is 5-11pm Fri, 11am-11pm Sat, and 11am-9pm Sun on Main St between the Tarrant County Convention Center and Sundance Square. Free. Call 817-737-5989.
