We’re Off to See the Lizards
Ask anyone involved with science museums, and they’ll tell you that nothing draws more kids than dinosaurs. The giant lizards that were once the top of the food chain on our planet still exude a certain fascination, not just because of their size, but for what we still don’t know about them. What color were their skins? What sort of noises did they make?
Fort Worth Museum of Science and History comes out this weekend with a revamped version of an exhibit they’ve had before called Lone Star Dinosaurs. The show contains five dinosaur species that were recently discovered in North Texas, two of which are still being scientifically reviewed and haven’t been officially named yet. In addition to these, the interactive exhibit also introduces kids to the science of paleontology with a mock-up of a field site (where kids can dig up specimens, observe rock patterns, and map the site), a lab, and an imaging station (where computers summarize findings from the site in a personalized digital image). Lone Star Dinosaurs will be a permanent feature of the museum in the years ahead, but now’s the time to see it when everyone there will be flushed with the thrill of discovery.
