The Wreck Room

The Wreck Room, West 7th Street’s funky neighborhood-bar-slash-rock ’n’ roll club, is probably the last place on earth you’d expect to find high fashion (unless you were looking for, um, “high” fashion), but that’s exactly what’s going on there this Saturday night.
Three sets of sisters will be taking over the bar: Donna and Erica Barton of Denton boutique Slinky Whistlebait, Ariella Villa and Josie Villa-Singleton of online style house Villa de Los Muertos (www.vdlm.com), and Halie Holloway and K8 Hardy of 3Billion gallery are conspiring to present “Rewind, Remake and Remodel” (or “R3” for short), a new take on what to do with vintage clothing. Quoth Holloway: “These outfits are high fashion for today, without spending a lot on name brands or expensive new clothing.”
3Billion will serve as the staging area for the evening, and the gallery’s Quincy Holloway has constructed a catwalk between the studio and the stage. The fashion will happen in between performances by the garage-y Faceless Werewolves (for whom Erica Barton drums), fashion-forward Faux Fox, and newcomers Regal Dime. DJ Will Boston will spin music while the models slink down the catwalk. All of the bands will be specially costumed, and the Wreck itself will be decked out with art created especially for the occasion. NYC video artist Hardy will provide the visuals to accompany the show.
Rumor also has it that Wreck Room bartender, foulmouthed raconteur, and bon vivant Carl Pack, still embittered over the Ridglea Country Club’s refusal to accept his application, will close the evening by modeling smoking jackets, ascots, and yachting caps while yelling obscenities at no one in particular and trying to kidnap one of the models.
