Teen Club On Deck
Back when Last Call wasn’t old enough to vote (or buy smokes), your writer’s nightlife consisted of getting together with friends, pilfering booze from assorted parents’ garage refrigerators, and getting smashed in the woods.
Boy, how times have changed. Kids today have their own clubs (sans booze, of course).
There’s one popping up in our backyard. In a space on North Main Street formerly occupied by topless dancers (The Castle) and vatos (Tejano Rocks), a Hispanic teen club should open shortly — and, as it turns out, may be gone just as quickly.
Proprietor Tim Decker says that opening La Teen O’s is a “cool thing to do” — but probably only until his TABC paperwork goes through. “It’s a funny thing, I know,” he admitted.
If his license is approved, he’s gonna give the kids the boot, in favor of the crowds that will be piling into LaGrave Field for Fort Worth Cats games. “It should be a really good spot for those who don’t want to go home after the game,” he said. But what if La Teen O’s is a hit? “If everything is going well,” he said, “I’ll just keep it the way it is.”
