Burger Burger Burger
Wild Bill’s (in the old Café Panache space at 477 W. Harwood Rd., Hurst; also at 2229 W. Park Row Dr., Pantego) must have based its burgers-of-all-variations menu on a Simpsons episode. You can, if you really want to, get your burger with guac, sprouts, pineapple, blue cheese, japs, and just about any kind of cheese made in America. There’s also a black-bean burger ($4.29) for those who diverge from the mmmmmm, meat sentiment.
Chow, Baby’s extreme-carnivore companion was lusting for the Wild Burger ($9.99), six patties totaling two pounds, and if you can eat it all within 10 minutes you get your picture on the wall. But after noting that the Wall of Fame looked like bad company (no thin lizzys there, har), he settled for the aptly named Bacon Bacon Bacon Burger ($4.29). Chow, Baby couldn’t resist the also aptly named Burger/Dog ($3.39), a burger topped with a hot dog. How come nobody thought of this before?
The burgers are thin but juicy, and hold their flame-grilled flavor. Fixings are on a condiments bar, smartly preventing an “I said NO ONIONS” smackdown, and they were good and fresh. Steak fries ($1.39) are thick and hot, service is cordial and speedy, and the prices are right. What more could Homer want?
