Texans Josh Browning, Josh Pearson, and Andy Young have been touring and recording for an impressive four years with a message as simple as it is surprising. Texas is the Holy Land, you see, and all who wander here are saved.

If this piques your curiosity, imagine what the music could do for you. Described as “the most beautiful, melodic sound; it made me want to cry” by one fan at April’s Fry Street Fair in Denton, Lift to Experience is anything but the same old thing, and it is everything that’s beautiful about Texas Rock.

They defy classification but we can call them “rock” for lack of a better term, although a more colorful description might be, in the words of drummer Young, “My Blood Valentine getting fucked ... by Jimi Hendrix.”

Strong words from a band currently touring in support of their most recent release, 2001’s The Texas-Jerusalem Crossroads.

The live sound of LTE is one of “salvation and irresistible grace,” Young says. Whatever you’ve forgotten, or never knew, about Texas and your place in it will become undeniably clear come Independence Day in Denton.

Thurs, July 4 at Rubber Gloves, 411 E. Sycamore, Denton. $7. 940-387-7781.
